About Mark Stiver
During his 48-year coaching career, Mark Stiver has proven that he can develop and duplicate individual and team success at an elevated level. Mark began his extraordinarily successful coaching career at Jefferson Township Local Schools coaching the Junior High Track & Field team from 1977-1979 before taking charge of the Jefferson High School Girls Track & Field program in 1980 through the 1990 season. While at Jefferson High School, his girls’ Track & Field teams were continuously among the strongest in Ohio. In 1991 he moved to Oakwood High School to become the Head Girls' Track & Field coach, where he currently continues to coach and has managed to duplicate the successful formula he developed while at Jefferson. Under Mark’s guidance, his Track & Field teams have won 14 Southwestern Buckeye League Championships (13 girls, one boys – all at Oakwood), 6 OHSAA District Championships (three at Jefferson, three at Oakwood), 13 OHSAA District Runner-Up team finishes (Oakwood), 9 top four OHSAA District finishes (Jefferson), 2 OHSAA Regional Runner-Up team finishes (Jefferson–1986 &1987), 1 OHSAA Regional Championship (Oakwood–2021), 3rd Place OHSAA D2 Girls State Championship team finish (Jefferson–1981), 2 OHSAA D2 Girls State Runner-Up team finishes (Jefferson–1982, Oakwood–2019), 2 OHSAA State Championship team finishes (Oakwood–2021 & 2022). In addition to his team accomplishments, Mark has coached multiple All-Ohio athletes from both schools in addition to multiple State Champion/Runner-Up individuals and relay teams. Five State Champion relay teams - 4x100 (Jefferson-1981), 4x200 (Jefferson-1981), 4x400 (Jefferson-1987), 4x800 (Oakwood-2021& 2022) and a Runner-Up relay finish 4x800 (Oakwood-1991). 8 Individual State Champions - Peter Hix (1600M-2010), Mary Kate Vaughn (3200M-2013), Grace Hartman (1600M-2021, 3200M-2019,2021,2022), Bella Butler (1600M-2023, 3200M-2023) and two individual Runner-Up finishes – Bella Butler (1600M-2021, 3200M-2022). Mark’s recognition includes multiple Southwestern Buckeye League and District Coach of the Year Honors. In addition to his Track & Field coaching, Mark has also served as the Oakwood Junior High Boys and Girls Cross Country Coach from 1998 to the present. In recognition of the outstanding consistency and multiple accomplishments of Mark Stiver, the Ohio Association of Track & Cross Country Coaches Association is proud to recognize him as a 2025 Hall of Fame inductee.
