Leslie Moorman (O'Brien) (2013)

About Leslie Moorman (O'Brien)

Leslie Moorman remains one of the most decorated track and field athletes in State Championship history. Coming out of Minster High School’s Class of 1989, Leslie stamped her senior year with league MVP Awards in volleyball, basketball, and track. But track is where she excelled and it was her leadership and efforts in her final spring season that brought home a team Track & Field State Championship title for Minster. With athletes limited to entering four events per meet, the possibility of running 16 State Championship races in the course of one’s four year career exists. And even if an athlete gets there in that many events, placing in them is a challenge – let alone winning them. Leslie made it to State Meet in 15 of those attempts, ran in five different events – two individual events and three different relays – and earned All-Ohio honors in 14 of those. Seven of those efforts resulted in State Championship titles and three others in State Runner-up titles. Although a critical member of the 4 x 100M relay (all four years), the 4 x 200M relay (sophomore year), and the 4 x 400M relay (all four years), it was the hurdles (100 hurdles her senior year and 300 hurdles all four years) for which Leslie became best known. In the 300M hurdle event, Leslie never lost a race in the course of her four year career – not once – not even a prelim – not even at the State Championships. She is one of only 14 athletes to ever win a title all four years and the only hurdler to do so. Her State Meet PR in the 300IH Hurdles is still a championship level 44.34. Leslie attended Bowling Green University where she lettered all four years and served as captain her senior year. She was on the record setting 4 x 100M shuttle hurdle relay team and placed 2nd in the MAC Championships as a senior in the 400M Hurdles. A Minster HS Hall of Fame inductee, Leslie lives in Pewaukee, Wisconsin.
