About Krista Keir

Krista Keir attended Westerville South High School where she was coached by Chris Mitko under Head Coach Scott Dorne. Her speciality was the Discus and Shot Put. She qualified for the State Meet in both events all 4 years of her High School career with 2 second places and 6 first places. In 1998 she was named Champion at the National Scholastic Indoor Meet in the Shot Put with a toss of 51’ 5 1/2”. This talented thrower further earned USATF Jr. All-American honors in both events. Krista is still the State record holder in the discus. Ms. Keir attended Indiana University as well as Ohio State. Her best efforts in College were186’ 1” in Discus and in the Shot she threw 55’ 3” (indoor). She was the 2002 Big 10 Champion in the Discus and is the Ohio State University record holder in the Discus and Indoor Shot Put. Krista also earned NCAA All-American honors in 2002 with a 2nd place in the Discus. Other honors include being named to the Verizon Academic All-American team, being a Big 10 Medal of Honor Finalist, and winning the Corwin A. Fergus Award. This bright young lady graduated summa cum laude from the Ohio State University. On a National level, Krista was in the 2001 World University Games in Beijing, China and was a Silver Medallist at the 1997 Pan American Games in Havana, Cuba. Krista was also a member of the 1998 Jr. World IAAF Championships taking 10th place in the Discus at Annecy, France.
