About Diane Krumpak
Diane Krumpak began her coaching tenure in 1985 at McDonald High School, where she served as the Head Girls Track & Field Coach for 17 years (1985-2001) and the Girls' Head Cross Country Coach for 4 years (2000-2003) before she moved to South Range Local School District taking charge of the Boys & Girls Junior High School Cross Country for 6 years (2006-2011) and Track Assistant for 5 years (2008-2011, 2020). Then Diane became the Girls Head Track & Field Coach for 7 years (2012-2018) and the Boys & Girls Head Cross Country Coach for 7 years (2012-2017, 2019). During her 40 years of coaching, Diane has exemplified professionalism, commitment, and leadership while earning the highest respect among her coaching peers, student-athletes, parents, officials, and administration alike. Her teams have been outstanding, capturing 18 Inter County League Championships (14 T&F, 4 XC), 4 Inter Tri-County League Track & Field Championships, 10 Trumbull County Championships (7 T&F, 3 XC), 6 Mahoning County Track & Field Championships, 16 OHSAA District Championships (13 T&F, 3 XC), 7 OHSAA Regional Championships (4 T&F, 2 XC), 3 x 3rd Place OHSAA State Division 3 Track & Field Championship Team finishes (1993, 1994, 1996, all at McDonald), 4 OHSAA State Cross Country Championship Qualifying Teams (McDonald – 3rd(2000), 6th(2001), 3rd(2002), South Range Boys – 20th(2019). In addition to her team successes, Diane has coached four individual Cross Country State qualifiers and 45 individual Track & Field State qualifiers (4 State Champions, 6 Runners-Up), 27 Track & Field Relay qualifying teams (3 State Champion Relays), and 39 All-Ohio athletes (31 Girls T&F, 1 Boys T&F, 7 Girls XC). Twenty-four former athletes have participated in cross country/track and field at the collegiate level. In 1998, the OATCCC recognized Diane with the Fred Dafler Ohio Career Coach of the Year Award for Track & Field; she received the 2014 Fred Dafler Sportsmanship Award from the Greater Youngstown Track Officials Association and the 2024 Contributor Award from the Ohio Track & Field and Cross Country Officials Association. In addition to her coaching commitment, Diane has also taken an active leadership role, serving on the OHSAA Track & Field Advisory Committee, on the games committee at Regionals and State, and the OHSAA Cross Country Committee to evaluate & adjust combined enrollment. Along with her committee work, Diane served as the OATCCC District 1 Representative from 2002-2016, the OATCCC Vice-President from 2016-2018, the OATCCC President from 2018-2020 and currently serves on the OATCCC Awards Committee, and the OATCCC Indoor Track & Field State Meet Committee. Diane continues to teach chemistry and is thankful for the wonderful students, athletes, and coaches she has worked with over the years. Her family has been invaluable to her, and she is truly blessed to have their support. The exemplary contributions Diane has made throughout her coaching career and in her service to the OHSAA & OATCCC are too numerous to mention but serve as outstanding examples for all. It is with profound gratitude, respect, and honor that the OATCCC includes Diane Krumpak as a 2025 Hall of Fame Inductee. Congratulations Diane!
