About Denise Gorski

This year’s winner of the Ed Barker award is most deserving. Denise Gorski’s contributions to track and field as well as to our organization have made her recognized and respected throughout the state. Ms. Gorski has coached at Boardman High School since 1982. She has led one State record holder (Laurie Gomez), two State Champions, one State Runner-up, and 16 other “All-Ohio” athletes in 10 different events. Her 81.7 winning percentage includes 12 SVC Championships, 11 Stark County Championships, and 7 District Championships. Denise’s contributions to the OAT-CCC are many. She has served as a District rep, Association secretary, member of the scholarship committee, and coach of our Midwest team. She was named as Career State Coach of the Year. Ms. Gorski performs many duties at our annual clinic wherever the need. Denise also has shown a great concern for people. She raised funds for a former athlete who developed cancer. She has shown great community spirit through her major commitment to the Boardman Parks Board. Her warm, friendly, enthusiastic personality has gained Denise Gorski many supporters. We are proud to add her name to the roll of distinguished Ed Barker Award recipients.
