About Claude Holland

Claude Holland is not just a champion coach, he was an outstanding athlete himself. While at John Adams High School, Claude set a school record in the 880 yd. run. He served as the Team Captain while attending University of Cincinnati, and he was the National Sub Masters Champion in the 600 yd. run. Coach Holland has been in education for the past 28 years. He served as the Head Track and Cross Country Coach for Cleveland John Adams from 1981 - 92, Head track coach at Cuyahoga Community College from 1993 – 94, Girls cross country at Cleveland Hts. 1995 – 2004, Boys track at Cleveland Hts. since 1999, and Boys cross country at Cleveland Hts. since 2005. In track, his athletes have placed in 43 events at the State Meet including 11 State Champions --breaking 3 State Meet and setting 3 State All-Time records. Coach Holland’s teams won the Outdoor State title in 1982 and 2008, the Indoor title in 2007, and 3 Outdoor State Runner-up titles. He further has 17 Relay title championships and 19 League championships to his credit. He also served as Head Coach of the winning Ohio boys team for the Midwest meet of Champions in 2008. While at Cuyahoga, Coach Holland coached 14 National Qualifiers. In Cross Country, Claude has guided 11 individuals to the State Meet and has had 3 All-Ohio runners. This deserving Hall– of- Famer has additionally added leadership by serving as the Meet Manager of the Ned Weigart Relays since 1995. He has served as Chairman, Meet Director, and Meet Manager of the International Children’s Games held in Cleveland in 2004. Mr. Holland has been the President and Head Coach of the Cleveland Rebels Summer Track Club since 1980.
