About Charles Beetham
Ran track at Columbus North High School and Ohio State University. Win five national AAU 880/800 titles-one indoor and four outdoor, and scored in two others outdoor. Won one NCAA 880 and scored in another. Won five Big Ten titles and set seven Ohio college outdoor records. Competed on the 1938 U.S. National Team. Was a leading candidate for the 1936 Olympic team, but was tripped in the final of the 800 meters in the final tryout meet. Coached cross country at Ohio State for 15 years and was assistant track coach. His cross country team won one All-Ohio meet.
