About Brittany Erin Atkinson
Britttany Erin Atkinson, a 2015 graduate of Liberty Center High School, competed in Track & Field and Cross Country under the guidance of her father and mother Tim & Kaylene Atkinson. Her father Tim is also an OATCCC Hall of Fame Inductee (2023). Britttany did not waste any time quickly proving herself during her freshman year (2011) as a dominate division three runner and among the top female high school runners in Ohio. In her first Division 3 State Cross Country Championship meet Brittany captured her first of two individual championships with a time of 18:27 while guiding the Liberty Center Lady Tigers to the first of three consecutive team titles. Her sophomore year (2012) Britttany placed 2nd in a time of 18:06 at the Division 3 State Cross Country Championships once again helping lead her team to the team title she then finished up he sophomore year with a 4th place finish in the 3200 Meter Run in a time of 11:03 at the Division 3 Track & Field Championships. During her junior Cross Country season (2013) Brittany captured her second Division 3 State Cross Country Championship individual title in a time of 18:31 while helping lead her teammates to a third consecutive Division 3 team title. Then Brittany followed an outstanding Cross Country season with a 1st place finish in the 3200 Meter Run in a time of 10:53 at the 2004 Division 3 State Track & Field Championships. Brittany entered her senior season with the strong desire to compete for another individual and team state Cross Country title but had to settle for another individual Division 3 Runner-Up finish and a 5th place team finish. She bounced back by capturing her second consecutive 1st place finish in the 3200 Meter Run in a time of 10:45 at the 2005 D3 State Track & Field Championships. During her 4-year career Britttany only scored 6 team points in Cross Country at the State Championships for her team. During her amazing career she captured 4 consecutive individual District Cross Country titles while leading her team to four consecutive District team titles, individually placed in the top 3 four times at the Regional Cross Country Championships (1st-2011, 3rd-2012, 3rd-2013, 2nd-2014) helping lead her team to a Regional Championship in 2013 and three Regional Runner-Up finishes in 2011, 2012 and 2014. She was NWOAL League Cross Country Champion all four years (2011-2014), joining Rachael Sauder Kinsman (2018 OATCCC Hall of Fame Inductee) as the only runner in league history to do so. Brittany was Regional Champion in the 1600 Meter Run & 3200 Meter Run in 2014 & 2015 and the school record holder in the 3200 Meter Run (10:45) and Cross Country (17:34). In 2015 Brittany was selected to compete for Team Ohio in the Mid-East Meet of Champions winning the 1600 Meter Run in a time of 4:58. After graduating Brittany signed with Ohio State University to pursue a collegiate career where she participated in the Track and Cross Country programs earning a four year varsity letter in Cross Country and part of two Big Ten Championships in Track & Field. Without a doubt Brittany Atkinson, regardless of division, was one of the top female distance runners in the State of Ohio during her time wearing the orange and black of Liberty Center High School.
