Andy Wolf (2013)

Ed Barker Recipient

About Andy Wolf

The Ed Barker Award is given as an acknowledgement to the individual who has shown the most exceptional service to the OAT&CCC and to the sports of track and Cross Country in Ohio. This year’s winner is Andy Wolf of Anderson High School. Andy is an Anderson graduate who set records in the 440 dash and the mile as well as cross country. Continuing his running career at Marietta College, he qualified as an individual to the NCAA Cross Country Championships. Upon graduation, he returned to Anderson HS to teach social studies for the next 40 years prior to his retirement. As a coach, Andy has received 41 Coach of the Year Awards during his career and was inducted into the Ohio Track and Cross Country Hall of Fame in 2001, however, it is his personal character, integrity, and service for which we recognize him with this award. Andy has been an active member of the OAT&CCC Executive Committee for many years, serving on the staffs of the MidEast Cross Country and Mid West Ohio All-Star Teams in addition to his responsibilities as a District Representative. He has also taken four U.S. teams overseas for international competitions. His involvement in the community includes many hours of work in his church, time spent with the local cable TV station, 4:00AM preparation and serving at a community food kitchen, and other activities involving the members of his teams. Andy stresses community service to his athletes and they mirror his involvement and efforts. His community recognized him as the “Citizen of the Year” in recognition of his contributions. Because of his many efforts on behalf of our sports, the athletes and coaches, and his community, we are proud to recognize Andy Wolf as the 2013 Ed Barker Award winner.
