Midwest Meet of Champions 2009 Complete Results and Photos
Team Ohio’s mens and womens squads combined for 391 points to out score Team Michigan 344.5 and Team Indiana 208.5 in the 2009 Midwest Meet of Champions held at Jackson High School, Michigan. The women's meet was dominated by Ohio outscoring Michigan’s representatives by 50 points and Indiana’s by 148 points (Ohio 223, Michigan 173, and Indiana 75 ). In the men’s meet, Michigan held off Ohio by 3.5 points despite Ohio’s win in the final event running 3:12.26 in the 4x400 meter relay (Michigan 171.5, Ohio 168 and Indiana 133.5). Maybe the most tightly contested race of the day was the girls 4x800 meter relay. Michigan (9:10.01) narrowly beat out Ohio (9:10.05) by 4 hundredths of a second. Midwest Meet of Champions Information

Team Ohio's Rosters

The Midwest Meet of Champions has been in existence since 1974 and pits the best senior track and field athletes from Ohio, Indiana, and Michigan against each other in the only scored, inter-state all-star meet of its kind in the United States.

This year the meet will be held on Saturday, June 13th at Jackson HS in Jackson, MI. Team Ohio will depart from the Jesse Owens Memorial in front of Ohio Stadium on Friday, June 12th at 10:00 a.m. Friday’s schedule consists of travel, practice, and a banquet with the teams from Indiana and Michigan. Saturday’s schedule consists of breakfast, team pictures, the Parade of Champions, and the meet itself. Team Ohio will be housed at Spring Arbor University. Final roster selections are made the Sunday and Monday immediately following the Outdoor State Championships. There is no cost to athletes who are selected. Travel costs, souvenir uniforms that the athletes keep, t-shirts, meals, and lodging are all underwritten by the Ohio Association of Track and Cross Country Coaches.

Ohio's team coordinator is Dave Pavlansky from Youngstown Boardman. The boys team head coach is Claude Holland of Cleveland Heights and the girls team head coach is Eileen Grosse of Wilmington High School.
