Julie Stibbe Steible

While attending Solon High School, Julie Stibbe Steible was an outstanding member of the track and cross country teams. Under coach Cathy McArdle, Julie was the first athlete to win the 880 yard run in the state meet all four years of competition (1976-79). She also won the state mile run in 1976.

While attending the University of Kentucky, Julie earned All-American status while scoring in the NCAA Championships. She also scored in the Penn Relays, Sea Ray Relays and Drake Relays. Julie was also a member of the winning two mile relay at the AAU Outdoor National Championships in 1975.

Glen C. Terry, Jr.

Glen Terry ran track at Cincinnati Sycamore Township High School under the guidance of coach Duane Correll. He was a two-time state champion in both the high hurdles and the 300 intermediate hurdles. His best time in the high hurdles was 13.71, and he timed a best of 36.38 in the intermediates. Glen set seven state records (six outdoor and one indoor). He went on to set a national record and was ranked first in the nation in both hurdle events in 1989.

While attending Indiana University, Glen won five Big-Ten hurdle events and captured the NCAA title twice. He is currently coaching track and field at Radford UNiversity in Virginia.

Carmen Banks

Carmen Banks is a graduate of John Adams High School in Cleveland. She ran under the guidance of coach Monica Gary frfom 1992 through 1994. This talented hurdler set or tied eleven indoor and outdoor state records. She won seven individual state titles including three in the 100 meter high hurdles, three in the 300 meter low hurdles, and one in the 200 meter dash. Her best time in the high's was 13.50, run at the Junior National Championships in 1994 earning her second place. Ms. Banks was also a member of the Pan American Team. Her best in the 300's of 41.80 ranked her the fastest high school runner in the nation in 1994. She run her best 200 of 24.30 in the Austintown Regonal in 94. Carmen led her team to the Division I State Championship in 1994 by scoring twenty-eight of the teams forty points.

Ms. Banks also won three events in the Mid-West Meet of Champions.

Jonathan Burrell

Jonathan Burrell was the speed king of Cleveland John Marshall High School from 1991-93 where he was coached by Hall of Famer Tom Elkins. During his reign, Jonathan set or tied thirteen state records in the 100 and 200 meter dashes and the 4 x 100 meter relay. He was the state champion in 1991, 92, and 93 in the 100 meters. He was ranked number two in the nation in 1991, number three in 1992, and number one in 1993. In the 200 mters Jonathan was the state champion in 1991 and was ranked in the top five nationally in that event. In 1992 he was runner-up in the USA National Championships despite having foot surgery. In 1993 he was again the runner-up at the USA Nationals, as well as the outdoor state champion and was ranked number two all-time in Ohio. Additionally, Jonathan was the Pan-American Champion and the Olympic Festival Champion.

Mr. Burrell attended the Ohio State University. He also attended Kansas City Kansas Community College. In 1994 he was the Big-Ten Champion in the 55 meters running 6.20, nad was an NCAA All-American. He set a Big-Ten Indoor Record in the 55 meter dash in 1995.

Joel T. Marchand

Distance runner Joel Marchand ran for Fairless High School from 1978 through 1980, where he was coached by Tim Stith. Joel was a five time state champion in his high school years. He ran the 1600 meters in 4:16.0 and clocked a 9:13.0 for 3200 meters, both state records for Division II.

Mr. Marchand attended Malone College where he was the fastest cross country runner in the state of Ohio. He won the All-Ohio Cross Country Meet as a freshman, and he finished third in the Notre Dame Invitational which featured two former Olympians. Joel still holds the five-mile cross country record at Malone. At the three-mile distance, Joel was the national Champion in 1981 and set a nationl record. Joel earned All-American honors six times in his illustrious career.

Joe Greene

Mr. Joe Greene graduated from Stebbins High School where he was an outstanding long jumper. While he was a good high school athlete, he really cme into his own while attending the Ohio State University and after college. In the long jump ths talented jumper achieved a leap of 26'-7", and lept 55'-4 3/4" in th triple jump.

Mr. Greene earned the Bronze Medal twice in the long jump at the Olympic Games. He was the NCAA Division I long jump champion, and won eight Big-Ten titles. Joe further set five Ohio Collegiate Records. He is especially proud of eclipsing the indoor long jump record of the great Jesse Owens at Ohio State, a record that had stood for fifty-four years.

Ricky Pittman

Ricky Pittman is a graduate of Cleveland East Technical High School. Where he was coached by Jim Emery. Ricky was an outstanding distance runner from 1978 through 1980. In the 3200 meter run, he set a state and national record of 8:46.3. He further set state records in the 10,000 meters (30:12.76) and as a member of the distance medley (7:28.2). In all, Ricky set five state records nad one national mark.

While attending the University of Tennessee Ricky speciallized in the steeplechase. He scored in many NCAA and National TAC meets, and won three SEC Events. Rickey is a five time All-American, and was also a member of the 1980 World Outdoor Team.
