Floyd Beam

Coached track at Rockey River High School from 1920 through 1937. Won three state high school track meets and was runnerup once. Won five district meets and many conference meets. Coached 12 individuals who won state meet events. Meet manager.

Charles Beetham

Ran track at Columbus North High School and Ohio State University. Win five national AAU 880/800 titles-one indoor and four outdoor, and scored in two others outdoor. Won one NCAA 880 and scored in another. Won five Big Ten titles and set seven Ohio college outdoor records. Competed on the 1938 U.S. National Team. Was a leading candidate for the 1936 Olympic team, but was tripped in the final of the 800 meters in the final tryout meet. Coached cross country at Ohio State for 15 years and was assistant track coach. His cross country team won one All-Ohio meet.

George "Phin" Guthrine

Hurdled for Elyria High School and Ohio State University. Finished third in the high hurdles in the 1924 Olympics, but was placed sixth for knocking over three hurdles. Won one NCAA outdoor high hurdles, and second in another. Won national AAU indoor hurdle races and another outdoors, and scored in three other national hurdle races. Won four Big Ten titles. Set eight Ohio college outdoor and two indoor records.

Tom Jones

Threw for Cincinnati Central High School and Miami University. Placed first, second, and third in the shot put in three NCAA outdoor meets. Placed three times in the national AAU outdoor meet in the shot put. Won five Mid American Conference titles-three in the shot put and two in the discus. Won one state high school track meet shot put gold medal. Set four Ohio college indoor shot put records and eight Ohio college outdoor shot put records.

Dan Kinsey

Coached track at Oberlin College from 1929 through 1959, and cross country at Oberlin from 1928 through 1958. Won 16 Ohio Athletic Conference cross country meets and 13 conference track meets. Coached several NCAA competitors when there was only one division, including one winner. Won the 1924 Olympic Games high hurdles, just before arriving at Oberlin for his first year. President of NCAA Cross Country Coaches Association in 1949 and 1950.

Harold "Bus" McMillen

Ran track for Bellpoint High School. Won seven gold medals in the state high school track meet. All seven were field events-the most ever won in the state meet. Won four events his senior year in 1925 leading his team to the state championship. Set three All-Ohio high school records.

Eleanor Montgomery

Jumped for Cleveland John Adams High School, Tennessee State University, and the Cleveland Track Club. Won the high jump in the 1963 and 1967 Pan American Games. Won the high jump in the 1964 and 1968 Final Olympic Trials and competed in both Olympics. Won six national AAU outdoor and six AAU indoor high jump titles. Set the American outdoor high jump twice. Made two other national teams. Set the Ohio high school state outdoor record and one indoor record.

Edwin Moses

Ran for Dayton Fairfield High School and Morehouse College. Won the 400 hurdles in the 1976 and 1984 Olympics. Broke the world record in the 400 hurdles three times and is the current world record holder. Won the 400 hurdles in five national AAU/TAC meets and scored in another. Has won two World Cup meets and both World Championship meets. Won the 1976 and 1984 Final Trial meets. Has completely dominated the 400 hurdles on the world level since 1975.
